The International Disability Alliance conducted the Workshop on Parallel Reporting last February 24-27, 2011 at the Great Eastern Hotel attended by 35 PWD participants representing their respective organizations. The workshop was conducted by Alexander Cote, Program Officer on Capacity Building of IDA and had an in depth discussion about the UNCRPD, the importance of DPO involvement in monitoring its implementation and an NGO parallel report to complement the country report on CRPD. After the workshop, a CORE Group of Volunteers from participation PWD organizations were given brief orientation on how to develop a parallel report. The following volunteered to be the member of the CORE GROUP: Lauro Purcil - KAMPI, Capt. Oscar J. Lauro Purcil was appointed by the group to be the Lead Convenor and KAMPI as the Secretariat of the Coalition. Two representatives were nominated to go to Geneva to observe the CRPD Committee Session in discussing the Country Report of Tunisia and to attend the side events on Challenges and Opportunities in Monitoring the CRPD from April 11-15, 2011. Lauro Purcil, Carmen Zubiaga and Dr. Liza Martinez were selected to go to Geneva sponsored by IDA.
